Abstract
El presente informe de tesis de carácter cualitativo ha tenido como objetivo principal describir la manifestación de lo sublime en la novela Moby-Dick del escritor estadounidense Herman Melville. Para llegar a ese objetivo se precisó estudiar la arquitectura del relato, las relaciones narratológicas y valorar a lo sublime como principal fuente de lo literario en esta novela. Se tuvo como bases teóricas la fundamentación estética de Burke y de Kant. Además, se utilizó un diseño contrastativo, y como instrumento de recolección de datos, el fichaje. Este estudio permite renovar el debate literario de lo sublime, además de establecer la obra maestra de Herman Melville como la novela más importante del siglo XIX en el país norteamericano.
The present qualitative thesis report has had as its main objective to describe the manifestation of the sublime in the novel Moby-Dick by the American writer Herman Melville. To reach this objective, it was necessary to study the architecture of the story, the narratological relationships and value the sublime as the main source of the literary in this novel. The aesthetic foundation of Burke and Kant was taken as theoretical bases. In addition, a contrastive design was used, and as a data collection instrument, the signing. This study makes it possible to renew the literary debate on the sublime, in addition to establishing Herman Melville's masterpiece as the most important novel of the 19th century in the North American country.
