Abstract
The objective of this research was to determine the frequency of SARS-CoV-2 positivity in patients hospitalized at the II-2 Tarapoto hospital from May to December 2020. The results of SARS-CoV-2 positivity were obtained using the Reverse Transcriptase Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction RT-PCR molecular test, using the Rotor-Gene Q equipment. Inclusion criteria were established for the study, and the association between variables such as origin, time, sex, age and symptoms was determined. The study was carried out at the Regional Public Health Reference Laboratory of San Martín, where the nasopharyngeal swab samples arrived together with their epidemiological records, and these data were entered into the NET-LAB 2 system. The total population was 13,285 cases of SARS-CoV-2. According to the origin in the province of Rioja, the frequency of positivity was 41.6%; in relation to the time, the month of June with 60.0%; in relation to sex, men presented a higher frequency than women in 26.3%, and those infected patients who had symptoms presented a frequency of 98.3%. With the data obtained, a statistical analysis was applied to demonstrate the existence of an association between the frequency of positivity and the variables considered, with a significance value "p" of less than 5% (α = 0.05).
