dc.descriptionTo demonstrate the protective effect of Eucalyptus globulus Labill against genotoxic damage induced by cyclophosphamide in leukocytes and liver cells of Rattus norvegicus strain Holtzman. Material and Methods: An experimental study, analytical, prospective, longitudinal in the Schools of Medicine and Biological Sciences, National University of Trujillo was performed. Four working groups each with five male specimens, negative control (water), positive control group (cyclophosphamide) and 2 experimental groups were established; one treated only with eucalyptus and other eucalyptus / cyclophosphamide. Leukocyte samples and liver cells were subjected to alkaline electrophoresis of individual cells (Comet assay). Results: We demonstrated that leukocyte specimens treated with eucalyptus (81.20 ± 18.40), eucalyptus / cyclophosphamide (126.60 ± 26.09) had lower rates of damage (DR) than those treated with cyclophosphamide (200 ± 29.07). The same happened with liver cells treated with eucalyptus specimens (61.80 ± 9.37), eucalyptus / cyclophosphamide (89.80 ± 20.72) showed lower rates of damage (DR) relative to those treated with cyclophosphamide (202 ± 22.25). These differences were statistically significant p <0.05 in both leukocytes and liver cells. Conclusion: The infusion of E. Globulus L. protects liver cells and leukocytes R. novergicus Holtzman strain against the genotoxic damage induced by cyclophosphamidees_PE
dc.description.abstractDemostrar el efecto protector de Eucalyptus globulus Labill frente al daño genotóxico inducido por ciclofosfamida en leucocitos y células hepáticas de Rattus norvegicus cepa Holtzman. Material y métodos: Se realizó un estudio de tipo experimental, analítico, prospectivo, longitudinal en las Facultades de Medicina y Ciencias Biológicas de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo. Se establecieron cuatro grupos de trabajo, cada uno con cinco especímenes machos, grupo control negativo (agua), grupo control positivo (ciclofosfamida) y 2 grupos experimentales; uno tratado con eucalipto y el otro con eucalipto/ciclofosfamida. Las muestras de leucocitos y células hepáticas fueron sometidas a electroforesis alcalina de células individuales (ensayo cometa). Resultados: Se evidenció que los leucocitos de especímenes tratados con eucalipto (81,20±18.40), eucalipto/ciclofosfamida (126.60±26.09) presentaron menor Índice de Daño (ID) que los tratados con ciclofosfamida (200±29.07). Lo mismo ocurrió con las células hepáticas de especímenes tratadas con eucalipto (61.80±9.37), eucalipto/ciclofosfamida (89.80±20.72) que también mostraron menores Índices de Daño (ID) en relación a las tratadas con ciclofosfamida (202±22.25). Estas diferencias fueron estadísticamente significativas p<0.05 tanto en leucocitos como en células hepáticas. Conclusión: La infusión de E. Globulus L. protege a leucocitos y células hepáticas de R. novergicus cepa Holtzman frente al daño genotóxico inducido por Ciclofosfamidaes_PE
