Abstract

The subcategories of the first category included: acquisition of knowledge, preparation, and administration of natural elements. In the second category, the subcategories were the use of natural products, preventive practices, and the combination of natural and traditional medicine with conventional medicine. The nurses acquired their knowledge of natural and traditional medicine primarily through family, the internet, and media, and were familiar with preparations such as lemonades, infusions, and vaporizations. Finally, the emergency nurses’ experiences with natural and traditional medicine represented an alternative for those who were able to integrate their scientific knowledge with practical skills, grounded in theories, beliefs, and experiences from their own and other cultures.
