Abstract
ABSTRACT The Mochica culture, which developed on the northern coast of Peru between the 1st and 9th centuries AD, was made up of various ethnic groups that coexisted in different forms of interethnic interaction. Each group had its own area of influence in the valleys of the South Mochica and this was reflected in the differences in their headdresses and ornaments. These differences were notable at different moments in time and in different regions of the South. The detailed study of the ceramic portraits known as "Huaco retrato" has allowed us to analyze the differences in physiognomy, ethnic attributes and ornaments that characterized these groups, which is presented in the present work
