dc.descriptionIn recent years, and after valuable discoveries, the kiwicha is returning to the value it once had, which has led to the need to conserve the genetic material of the species in specialized stations such as Kayra in Cusco, Canaan in Ayacucho, Baños of the Inca in Cajamarca, Santa Ana in Huancayo and Tingua in Huaraz. Its highest production is in the high regions of Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Northeast of Argentina, which determines the important value that must be highlighted of the role played by wild relatives in the improvement of cultivated species. Based on what was mentioned in the previous paragraph and knowing that our country has promising Andean species such as Kiwicha, it was proposed to determine the potential wild relatives for the improvement of Amaranthus caudatus L. "kiwicha" in Peru. Collections were made through botanical explorations programmed to several localities in Peru. Then a critical review of the specialized bibliography was carried out and reinforcing this information with that obtained by the personal experience of both researchers and local and regional inhabitants. They are reported to Amaranthus Blitum L., Amaranthus caudatus L., Amaranthus celosioides HBK, Amaranthus cruentus L., Amaranthus deflexus L., Amaranthus dubius C. Marthius ex thellung, Amaranthus hybridus L., Amaranthus lividus L., Amaranthus peruvianus (Schnauzer) standley, Amaranthus spinosus L., Amaranthus urceolatus Bentham and Amaranthus Viridis L. as potential wild relatives for the improvement of Amaranthus caudatus L. "kiwicha" in Peru.es_PE
dc.description.abstractEn los últimos años, y luego de valiosos descubrimientos, la kiwicha está retomando el valor que tuvo antiguamente, lo cual ha originado la necesidad de conservar el material genético de la especie en estaciones especializadas como la de Kayra en Cusco, Canaán en Ayacucho, Baños del Inca en Cajamarca, Santa Ana en Huancayo y Tingua en Huaraz. Su mayor producción está en las altas regiones de Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia y Noreste de Argentina, lo que determina el importante valor que hay que destacar del rol que tienen los parientes silvestres en el mejoramiento de las especies cultivadas. Basado en lo mencionado en el párrafo anterior y conociendo que nuestro país cuenta con especies andinas prometedoras como la Kiwicha se planteó determinar los Parientes silvestres potenciales para el mejoramiento de Amaranthus caudatus L. “kiwicha” en el Perú. Se realizaron colectas a través de exploraciones botánicas programadas a varias localidades del Perú. Luego se llevó a cabo una revisión crítica de la bibliografía especializada y reforzando esta información con la obtenida por la experiencia personal tanto de los investigadores como de los pobladores locales y regionales.
