Abstract
ABSTRACT The objective of this thesis was to determine the concentration of lead in the lower basin of the Moche river located in the department of La Libertad, Peru. The sampling was carried out once only, where five stations were considered according to distance and availability (between 0 and 400 m.a.s.l.), with three samplings per station. Lead concentration was determined by the photocolourimetric method, giving as extreme values between 0.52 mg/L and 0.78 mg/L lead, with an average of 0.64 mg/L lead. All stations exceed 0.05 mg/L lead, which is the permissible limit established by the Peruvian Environmental Quality Standards for water (ECA), category 3 (Water for vegetable irrigation and animal drinking), established in DS N° 004-2017-MINAM. Consequently, the lower basin of the Moche River is contaminated with lead, therefore, it is not suitable for use in human activities.
