Abstract
This thesis proposes the implementation of a new occupational health and safety management system based on the design of ten effective accident prevention tools to reduce work accident rates at Almer Chemicals S.A. This new approach has allowed us to significantly reduce the accidentability rate by determining the real causes of work accidents and establishing corrective and preventive actions to avoid their recurrence. In this thesis, the industrial plant worker has been considered as the object of study and the work accident as a variable. Currently there is no evidence of similar research, which will allow industrial companies to adopt this new effective approach to the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, based on the new model created by Eng. Sigifredo Orlando Vidal Rodríguez and called PIMAC MODEL. (Plan, Implement, Measure, Analyze and Correct), which integrates the 10 effective tools for the prevention of work accidents, strategically distributed in each of the 5 phases and which, when applied, has allowed reducing the accidentability rate in the industrial plant. The general objective of this thesis is to reduce the accidentability rate in the industrial company Almer Chemicals S.A., through the application of the ten effective tools for the prevention of accidents at work to improve the management of safety and health at work. The specific objectives achieved have allowed us to carry out a diagnosis of the occupational health and safety management system to determine non-conformities and the baseline for the design of the ten effective accident prevention tools under the PIMAC management model (plan, implement, measure, analyze and correct), allowing to provide safe and healthy work environments to the company's workers. According to the results obtained, it can be seen that from 2016 to in 2017 the monthly accidentability rate increased considerably from 83.85 to 469.43 because the company did not have an effective system safety and health at work. After the application of the ten effective safety and health prevention tools at work, a significant reduction in the accidentability rate is observed for the years 2018 and 2019, obtaining accident rates of 42.72 and 24.58 respectively.
