dc.descriptionABSTRACT In this thesis we analyze the conception, design and strategy and narrative techniques of The War of the End of the World in light of the theory of polyphony in the novel by the Russian philologist Mikhail Bakhtin. The aim is to demonstrate that this is a polyphonic novel from its conception from the reading of The Sertones by Euclides da Cunha through the creation of main characters who confront in fiction their diverse perspectives on the history of Canudos configuring a discursive heteroglossia. Each of these multiple perspectives coexist and interrelate embodied in characters that enjoy discursive autonomy and are represented by literary techniques such as counterpoint and direct and indirect free style. Mario Vargas Llosa has been characterized by an incessant desire for literary experimentation in each of his novels, the polyphony in The War of the End of the World is due to the will to tell a story that reveals the ambiguity of the interpretations and misunderstandings that generate the ideological fanaticisms. Applying the theories Bajtin reveals that The war of the end of the world is the most ambitious work of Mario Vargas Llosa.es_PE
dc.description.abstractRESUMEN En esta tesis analizamos la concepción, diseño, estrategia y técnicas narrativas de La guerra del fin del mundo a la luz de la teoría de la polifonía desarrollada por el filólogo ruso Mijail Bajtin. El objetivo es demostrar que esta es una novela polifónica desde su concepción a partir de la relación intertextual con Los Sertones de Euclides da Cunha, la heteroglosia como estrategia discursiva para representar las diversas perspectivas sobre la tragedia de Canudos, la caracterización de los personajes y su autonomía respecto a los designios del autor, así como el uso de técnicas literarias como el contrapunto y el estilo directo e indirecto libre con las que el autor supera los límites expresivos impuestos por la homofonía de la novela tradicional. Escrita en un periodo el que el autor sufría un proceso de metamorfosis ideológica, al transitar del socialismo al liberalismo, la polifonía le permitió al autor de La guerra… trascender el realismo mimético y crítico hasta crear una alegoría sobre la ambigüedad de las interpretaciones y los malentendidos en la visión de la historia ocasionados por los fanatismos ideológicos.es_PE
