dc.descriptionLiver cirrhosis is characterized by fibrosis that involves not only the liver parenchyma, but also the portal tract leading to the well-known complication of portal hypertension. Liver cirrhosis is the 13th leading cause of death globally, with the mortality rate increasing worldwide. The timely diagnosis of portal hypertension by increasing the ultrasound values ​​of the diameters of the portal and splenic veins will help to predict the fearful development of esophageal varices in a cirrhotic patient. The purpose of this work is to compare the effectiveness of the diagnostic methods available in the Radiology service of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo in order to achieve the early diagnosis of esophageal varices and this contribute to the development of diagnostic protocols in the service and to the development of experimental studies with other procedures.es_PE
dc.description.abstractLa cirrosis hepática es la 13ª causa de muerte globalmente, con el aumento de la tasa de mortalidad en todo el mundo. Se caracteriza por una fibrosis que no sólo involucra al parénquima hepático sino también al tracto portal, conducente a la complicación bien conocida de hipertensión portal. El diagnóstico oportuno de la hipertensión portal mediante el incremento de los valores ecográficos de los diámetros de la vena porta y esplénica, ayudarán a predecir el temible desarrollo de las várices esofágicas en un paciente cirrótico. El propósito de este trabajo es comparar la efectividad de los métodos diagnósticos disponibles en el servicio de Radiología del Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo con el fin de lograr el diagnóstico precoz de las várices esofágicas y así contribuir a la elaboración de protocolos de diagnóstico en el servicio y al desarrollo de estudios experimentales con otros procedimientos.es_PE
