dc.descriptionObjective: To determine if CD4 < 200 cell / mm3, viral load > 400 copies / ml, BMI > 22.5 kg / m2, age > 40 years and female gender as risk factors of peripheral neuropathy in patients with HIV infection. Method: An observational analytical study of cases and controls. The clinical histories of HIV patients of the HAART program of the infectology office of the “Hospital Belen de Trujillo” during the period January – November 2018, were reviewed and those who met the selection criteria were chosen. Sixty cases and 60 controls were selected. Results: The statistical analysis of the variables under study and its association with peripheral neuropathy was as follows: CD4 < 200 cell / mm3 (p = 0.297 ᵡ² = 1.087 OR: 1549 IC 95%: 0.678-3.539), Viral load> 400 copies / ml (p = 0.215 ᵡ² = 1.534 OR: 1.675 95% CI: 0.738 - 3.806), BMI> 22.5 Kg / m2 (p = 0.709 ᵡ² = 0.139 OR: 1.149 IC 95%: 0.553 - 2.387), age> 40 years (p = 0.011 ᵡ² = 6.420 OR: 2.765 95% CI: 1.244 - 6.145), female gender (p = 0.500 ᵡ² = 0.455 OR: 1.356 95% CI: 0.559 - 3.289). Conclusion: Age > 40 years is a risk factor for peripheral neuropathy in patients with HIV infection.es_PE
dc.description.abstractObjetivo: Determinar si CD4 < 200 cell/mm3, carga viral > 400 copias/ml, IMC > 22.5 kg/m2, edad > 40 años y género femenino son factores de riesgo de neuropatía periférica en pacientes con infección por VIH. Método: Estudio observacional, analítico de casos y controles. Fueron revisadas las historias clínicas de pacientes con VIH del programa TARGA del servicio de infectología del Hospital Belén de Trujillo durante el periodo Enero - Noviembre 2018 y se escogieron aquellas que cumplían con los criterios de selección. Se seleccionaron 60 casos y 60 controles.
