dc.descriptionObjective: To evaluate the synergistic effect of the essential oil of Corymbia citriodora (AECC) and Fluconazole against Candida albicans. Materials and methods: Experimental study carried out in 3 phases. In the first, the susceptibility of Candida albicans against the AECC and Fluconazole was evaluated by the Kirby-Bauer agar diffusion method. In the second, the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of the AECC against Candida albicans was determined by the macrodilution method. In the third, the effect of the association between AECC and Fluconazole against Candida albicans was determined by the disk diffusion and the “chess board” methods. Results: First phase: the susceptibility of C. albicans against the AECC was 13.1mm, 18.5mm, 23.2mm, 42.3mm at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% respectively. Second Phase: the MIC of the AECC was 214.25 mg/mL. Third phase: the susceptibility of C. albicans against the association of the AECC at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% and Fluconazole through diffusion method was 24.6 mm, 46.8 mm, 53 mm and 68 mm respectively; using the “chess board” method, the fractional inhibitory concentration of AECC and Fluconazole against Candida albicans was less than 0.5 in all combinations performed. Conclusion: The AECC has a synergistic effect with Fluconazole against Candida albicans.es_PE
dc.description.abstractObjetivo: Evaluar el efecto sinérgico del aceite esencial de Corymbia citriodora (AECC) y Fluconazol contra Candida albicans. Materiales y métodos: Estudio experimental desarrollado en 3 fases. Primera fase: se evaluó la susceptibilidad de Candida albicans frente al AECC y Fluconazol mediante el método de difusión en agar. Segunda fase: se determinó la Concentración Mínima Inhibitoria (CMI) del AECC contra Candida albicans mediante el método de macrodilución. Tercera fase: se determinó el efecto de la asociación del AECC y Fluconazol contra Candida albicans mediante los métodos de difusión en discos y “tablero de ajedrez”. Resultados: Primera fase: la susceptibilidad de C. albicans frente al AECC fue de 13,1mm, 18,5mm, 23,2mm, 42,3mm al 25%, 50%, 75% y 100% respectivamente. Segunda fase: la CMI del AECC fue de 214,25 mg/mL. Tercera fase: la susceptibilidad de C. albicans frente a la asociación del AECC al 25%, 50%, 75% y 100% y Fluconazol mediante difusión en discos fue de 24,6 mm, 46,8 mm, 53 mm y 68 mm respectivamente; mediante el “tablero de ajedrez”, la concentración inhibitoria fraccionaria del AECC y Fluconazol contra Candida albicans fue menor de 0,5 en todas las combinaciones realizadas.
