Abstract
Abstract Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulation of the host's response to infection, accounting for 20% of admissions to intensive care units, with a high mortality rate. That is why several researchers have used data science techniques, through scoring scales, to predict mortality or patient survival. Therefore, the following research problem arises: Is the lactate/albumin index a predictor of mortality in patients with sepsis and septic shock hospitalized in the Medicine Service of the Belén Hospital in Trujillo? HYPOTHESIS: Null hypothesis. The lactate/albumin index is not a predictor of mortality in patients with sepsis and septic shock hospitalized in the Medicine Service of the Belén Hospital in Trujillo. Alternative hypothesis: The lactate/albumin index is a predictor of mortality in patients with sepsis and septic shock hospitalized in the Medicine Service of the Belén Hospital in Trujillo. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To determine if the lactate/albumin index is a predictor of mortality in patients with sepsis and septic shock hospitalized in the Medicine Service of the Belén Hospital in Trujillo. MATERIAL AND METHODS: An analytical, observational, retrospective, case-control study will be carried out. The study population will consist of 381 patients hospitalized in the Medicine Service of the Belén de Trujillo Hospital, who will be divided into two groups: 127 patients for the group of cases and 254 for the control group, which will be selected according to the established criteria.
