Abstract
ABSTRACT The objective of this pre-professional practice report was to determine the quantification of glycosylated hemoglobin in adult patients treated in a clinical laboratory in the city of Trujillo, April - October 2021. 336 blood samples were processed from patients of both sexes, who underwent the biochemical analysis of glycosylated hemoglobin, for which the samples were extracted by venipuncture and processed in the WIENER LAB CB400i biochemical analyzer, using the immunoturbidimetric inhibition method for the quantitative determination of HbA1c. The results obtained according to gender were: 49% of men and 51% of women, presented a high percentage of glycosylated hemoglobin in blood, in terms of age group, the patients were both men and women aged 40 years and over, who presented high percentage of glycosylated hemoglobin in the blood. And finally, the results obtained from patients with glycosylated hemoglobin values within the normal range (4.58 to 5.99%), that is, non- diabetic patients, were: 58 men and 35 women; the patients with optimal values with treatment (6.0% to 7.99%) were: 73 men and 80 women, while the patients who required therapeutic intervention (>8%) were 45 men and 45 women.
