dc.descriptionThe present study of descriptive correlational type, was conducted during the months of November to December 2017 in the District Hospital of Laredo, with the purpose of establishing the relationship between the capacities and actions of self-care in older adults in the prevention of complications due to hypertension, Program of the Elderly of said hospital. The sample consisted of 68 older adults, with certain inclusion and exclusion criteria. Two questionnaires were applied: "Assessment scale on self-care skills in prevention of complications due to arterial hypertension" and "Rating scale on self-care actions in prevention of complications due to arterial hypertension", to obtain the information. It was reached, to the following conclusions. In older adults, there is a higher prevalence of a level of adequate skills (85.3%). The majority of older adults have an adequate level of self-care actions (55.9%). There is no significant statistical relationship between the capacities and actions of self-care in older adults in the Prevention of Complications due to Arterial Hypertension, the Elderly Program of the District Hospital of Laredo. However, the trend shows that whatever the age, sex, schooling and time of illness, there would be greater possibilities of finding appropriate self-care actions.es_PE
dc.description.abstractEl presente estudio de tipo descriptivo correlacional, se realizó durante los meses de noviembre a diciembre 2017 en el Hospital Distrital de Laredo, con el propósito de establecer la relación entre las capacidades y acciones de autocuidado en adultos mayores en la prevención de complicaciones por hipertensión arterial, Programa del Adulto Mayor de dicho hospital. La muestra estuvo constituida por 68 adultos mayores, con ciertos criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se aplicó dos cuestionarios “Escala de valoración sobre capacidades de autocuidado en prevención de complicaciones por hipertensión arterial” y “Escala de valoración sobre acciones de autocuidado en prevención de complicaciones por hipertensión arterial”, para obtener la información. Se llegó, a las siguientes conclusiones. En los adultos mayores, existe mayor prevalencia de un nivel de capacidades adecuadas (85.3%). La mayoría de adultos mayores poseen un nivel adecuado de acciones de autocuidado (55.9%). No existe una relación estadística significativa entre las capacidades y acciones de autocuidado en adultos mayores en la Prevención de Complicaciones por Hipertensión Arterial, Programa del Adulto Mayor del Hospital Distrital de Laredo. Sin embargo, la tendencia muestra de que sea cual fuese la edad, el sexo, la escolaridad y el tiempo de enfermedad, habría mayores posibilidades de encontrar adecuadas acciones de autocuidado.es_PE
