dc.descriptionABSTRACT The research "The Funeral Practices in the Archaeological Site Pallka – Casma Valley" allowed to understand the funeral contexts, whose evidences show (demostrate) that the funerary practices made in this archaeological site, served to legitimize the role and justify the power of a local elite, during the Middle Horizon period, marked by continuous cultural interactions. The complexity of the funerary architecture, the arrangement of the offerings and the iconographic content of the pottery found in the graves represent the personal and the spiritual prestige of the buried individuals and the political, economic and ideological integration processes occurred in the valley of Casma, during a period marked by ideological mechanisms that promoted a strong interaction and regional integration. In the same way, these contexts demostrate the formation of the political and legitimized leaderships in the cultural and local traditions, and ideological foreign beliefs, they allow innovations in the social order and in the economic control in the diferent areas occurred in the Casma Valley during the Middle Horizon. During the funerary contexts studies, we do not study just the techniques, the forms and the material graves construction, but also we study the evidence to understand the attitudes society, towards some individuals or individual groups, therefore to interpret their roles within of the whole society. From early times the Andean man had a great reverence for their deads, in their ideologies they had magical powers, the pre-Hispanic societies had the idea that the dead recover the life from the beyond, that’s why they determined the contruction of specific spaces for the dead deposition. We hope this research will contribute to a better understanding of funerary practices in the Andean world and the importance that these symbolize for social order.es_PE
dc.description.abstractRESUMEN La investigación “Prácticas Funerarias en el Sitio Arqueológico de Pallka – Valle de Casma” permitió entender los contextos funerarios, cuyas evidencias demuestran que las prácticas funerarias realizadas en este sitio arqueológico, sirvieron para legitimar el rol y justificar el poder de una élite local, durante el Horizonte Medio, periodo marcado por continuas interacciones culturales. La complejidad de la arquitectura funeraria, la disposición de las ofrendas y el contenido iconográfico de las cerámicas encontradas en las tumbas, representan el prestigio personal y espiritual de los individuos enterrados y los procesos de integración política, económica e ideológica sucedidos en el valle de Casma, durante un periodo marcado por mecanismos ideológicos que promovieron una intensa interacción e integración regional. Asimismo, estos contextos, demuestran la formación de liderazgos políticos legitimados en tradiciones culturales locales y creencias ideológicas foráneas, las que permitieron innovaciones en el orden social y en el control económico interzonal ocurrido en el valle de Casma durante el Horizonte Medio. En el estudio de los contextos funerarios no solo se trata de estudiar las técnicas, formas y materiales constructivos de las tumbas, sino también se evidencia del entendimiento de las actitudes de una sociedad hacia determinados individuos o grupos de individuos, y, por lo tanto, captar los roles de estos dentro del conjunto social. Desde épocas muy tempranas el hombre andino tuvo una gran reverencia por sus muertos a los que les atribuían poderes mágicos; es por eso que en las sociedades prehispánicas tuvieron la idea de que el muerto recobraba la vida en el más allá, y es por ello que dispusieron la creación de espacios específicos para la deposición de los muertos. Esperando que con esta investigación se haya contribuido hacia un mejor entendimiento de las Prácticas Funerarias en el mundo andino y la importancia que estas simbolizan para el orden social.es_PE
