Abstract
El Síndrome del Intestino Irritable es un problema de salud pública por su gran prevalencia (~20%), produciendo una disminución en la calidad de vida y mayores gastos sanitarios.
Objetivo: Identificar el nivel de conocimiento sobre el Síndrome del Intestino Irritable de la población adulta trujillana.
Metodología: Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal en adultos del distrito de Trujillo, mediante el uso de un cuestionario validado por los autores, durante los meses de agosto y septiembre del 2023. Los resultados se ordenaron en tablas y figuras, además, se analizó la existencia de significancia estadística de las variables sociodemográficas y relacionadas con la enfermedad según nivel de conocimiento.
Resultados: Se estudiaron 384 personas donde el nivel de conocimiento fue deficiente o regular en 1 de cada 2 encuestados, la mayoría eran del sexo femenino (77.9%), adultos jóvenes (48.4%), tenían secundaria completa (42.2%), un nivel socioeconómico bajo inferior (61.2%), y solo el 3.6% tenía el antecedente diagnóstico siendo la única variable estadísticamente significativa con respecto al nivel de conocimiento.
Conclusión: El nivel de conocimiento sobre el Síndrome de Intestino Irritable de la población adulta trujillana es predominantemente deficiente o regular.
Abstract Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a public health problem due to its high prevalence (~20%), producing a decrease in quality of life and higher health expenses. Objective: Identify the level of knowledge about irritable bowel syndrome in the adult population of Trujillo. Methodology: An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out on adults in the district of Trujillo, through the use of a questionnaire validated by the authors, during the months of August and September 2023. The results were organized into tables and figures, in addition, the existence of statistical significance of the sociodemographic and disease-related variables was analyzed according to level of knowledge.
