dc.descriptionThe present study descriptive - exploratory type of cross-section, whose objective was to determine the level of risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in the nursing students from the second to the tenth cycle of the Faculty of nursing of the National University of Trujillo. The sample was of 191 nursing students between 18 to 29 years of age, who met the inclusion criteria. Used the so-called instrument: Finish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISK). The results indicated that students in 100 percent were under 45 years of age, 60.2 percent had a normal body mass index, 55.5 percent presented an abdominal perimeter within the normal range, the 53.9 percent not performed physical activity 50.8 percent do not eat daily fruits and vegetables, 99.5 percent do not receive antihypertensive medications, in a 96.9 percent had no history of hyperglycemia and 45.6 percent had no family history of diabetes. In conclusion: according to the Test of Findrisk the risk factors identified in the nursing students were physical inactivity and inadequate consumption of fruits and vegetables; certain risk level was the 60.4 percent with a risk under, followed by a 35.0 percent with a slightly elevated risk, the 3.6 percent obtained a moderate risk and 1.0 per cent presented a high risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the next s 10 years.es_PE
dc.description.abstractEl presente estudio de tipo descriptivo - exploratorio de corte transversal, cuyo objetivo fue el determinar el nivel de riesgo de desarrollar diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en las estudiantes de enfermería del segundo al décimo ciclo de la facultad de enfermería de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo. La muestra fue de 191 estudiantes de enfermería entre 18 a 29 años de edad, que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión. Se empleó el instrumento denominado: Finish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISK). Los resultados indicaron que las estudiantes en un 100 por ciento fueron menores de 45 años, el 60.2 por ciento tuvo un índice de masa corporal normal, el 55.5 por ciento presentó un perímetro abdominal dentro del rango de lo normal, el 53.9 por ciento no realizaban actividad física, el 50.8 por ciento no comen a diario frutas y verduras, el 99.5 por ciento no reciben medicamentos antihipertensivos, en un 96.9 por ciento no presentaron antecedentes de hiperglucemia y el 45.6 por ciento no tuvo antecedentes familiares diabetes. En conclusión: según el Test de Findrisk los factores de riesgo identificados en las estudiantes de enfermería fueron la inactividad física y el consumo inadecuado de frutas y verduras; el nivel de riesgo determinado fue del 60.4 por ciento con un riesgo bajo, seguido de un 35.0 por ciento con un riesgo ligeramente elevado, el 3.6 por ciento obtuvo un riesgo moderado y el 1.0 por ciento presentó un riesgo alto de presentar diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en los próximos 10 años.es_PE
