Microencapsulación del aceite esencial de Eucalyptus globulus “eucalipto” y evaluación de su actividad antibacteriana

Abstract
El objetivo del informe de prácticas preprofesionales fue evaluar la actividad antibacteriana del aceite esencial (AE) de Eucalyptus globulus Labill. y los diferentes microencapsulados que se obtuvieron con goma arábiga y maltodextrina usados como encapsuladores. El AE de E. globulus fue extraído por hidrodestilación. Se evaluó el porcentaje de rendimiento que se obtuvo en la microencapsulación teniendo en cuenta factores como la temperatura del aire de ingreso y de salida, entre otros. Luego se evaluó la actividad antibacteriana contra cinco cepas (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus resistente a meticilina, Bacillus subtilis y Pseudomonas aeruginosa) mediante el método de microdilución. El AE de E. globulus a 0,35 mg/mL presentó la mejor actividad inhibitoria. También se observó que el microencapsulado con maltodextrina presentó una mejor actividad frente a S. aureus y B. subtilis con 12,5 y 25 mg/mL, en comparación de la goma arábiga. Por lo que se concluye que el AE de E. globulus se conserva mejor en los microencapsulados a base de maltrodextrina.
ABSTRACT This report of preprofessional practices has the purpose of evaluating the antibacterial activity of essential oil (EO) from Eucalyptus globulus Labill. and the different microencapsulates that were obtained with Arabic gum and Maltodextrin used as encapsulators. The EO of E. globulus was extracted by hydrodistillation. The percentage of yield obtained in the microencapsulation was evaluated considering factors such as the temperature of the inlet and outlet air, among others. Antibacterial activity against five strains (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus methicillin resistant, Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) was then evaluated by the microdilution method. The EO of E. globulus at 0,35 mg/mL presented the best activity inhibitory. It was also observed that the microencapsulated with maltodextrin presented a better activity against S. aureus and B. subtilis with 12,5 and 25 mg/mL, compared to Arabic gum. Therefore, it is concluded that the EO of E. globulus is better preserved in the microencapsulates Maltodextrin based.
