dc.description | The objective of the research was to evaluate the antimutagenicity of Caesalpinia spinosa "tara" against the damage of cyclophosphamide in polychromatic erythrocytes (EPC) of Rattus norvegicus, distributed in groups: a) Negative control, b) Positive control, c) C. spinosa, d ) C. spinosa – cyclophosphamide, e) C. spinosa and cyclophosphamide and f) Cyclophosphamide – C. spinosa, treated for 10 consecutive days. After treatment, bone marrow was isolated from the specimens to obtain cytological preparations, which were stained with 5% Giemsa. It was found that the genotoxicity index of the C. spinosa group (8.3 ± 2.21) does not present significant differences with the negative control (7.2 ± 1.48); but both indices are significantly lower than the positive control (27.1 ± 3.35), these findings show that tara would not have mutagenic action. In the groups of pre, co and post treatment with C. spinosa and cyclophosphamide they show reduction of genotoxic damage (94.5, 79.8 and 67.3 % respectively) that are significantly different from the positive control (27.1 ± 3.35). It is concluded that the decoction of C. spinosa has an antimutagenic effect shown in the reduction of genotoxic damage (DRG), being greater when C. spinosa is administered as a previous treatment. | es_PE |
| es_PE |
