Abstract
Toda cultura o grupo social posee una tradición mítica-legendaria latente, que, a manera de memoria colectiva, ofrece a sus habitantes que la profesan y difunden, una carta de fundación utilitaria. Ya lo dijo Georges Dumézil: “Un país sin leyenda se moriría de frío; un pueblo sin mitos está muerto. Esto permite que, del caudal imaginario social, emanen o surjan relatos como mitos y leyendas, los cuales brindan una visión cosmogónica, dado que ofrecen a sus creyentes una interpretación del sentido del mundo. De esta manera, estos relatos sacros mitos y leyendas- no deben ser inventados, sino contados como un saber respaldado por sus poseedores, que los conservan como reliquia de su historia, y los transmiten por generaciones.
