Abstract
In this study, we investigated the effect of ethanol extract of leaves of Annona cherimola "custard" at different concentrations and exposure times on the cell cycle in root meristem in Allium cepa L. A bulbs were placed rooting strain to drinking water for 72 hours to obtain rootlets two to three group of them continued their roots in water and another group was exposed to concentrations of 5x1 O''4’ mg / mL, 1x10('3) mg / mL, 5xl0(‘3) mg / mL, 1 xl0 (-2) isolated and preserved in solution then stained with orcein Carnoy's and acetic 2% according to the technique of Tjio and Levan (1956).Was observed in mitotic index decreased with concentration of 1x10-2 mg / mL at 24 hours and at the same concentration the values Profasic Index at 73.23% with the consequent decrease of the remaining phases. The decrease in mitotic index and phase with respect to the controls involving complex tetrahydrofuran (THF) and tetrahydropyran (THP) hydroxyl which would be acting at the second point control the cell cycle (G2), preventing the formation of Cdkl-cyclin B complex, which form MPF, it does not cause the normal transition from G2 phase cells into mitosis.
