Abstract
El presente estudio cuantitativo con diseño descriptivo correlacional tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre nivel de conocimientos sobre cáncer de mama y la práctica del autoexamen de mamas. La muestra estuvo conformada por 105 estudiantes de II y IV ciclo de enfermería de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo (UNT) los cuales cumplieron criterios de inclusión. Se aplicó dos cuestionarios de manera virtual para cada variable de estudio para la obtención de datos. Los datos se procesaron utilizando el SPSS versión 26 y los resultados se presentaron en tablas de entrada simple y doble, se aplicó la prueba de Tau-b de Kendal. Se concluye que la mayoría de estudiantes de enfermería (51,9 %), tuvieron nivel de conocimientos medio del cáncer de mama. Las prácticas preventivas del cáncer de mama, fueron de nivel regular en un 53,8 por ciento. La relación entre el nivel de conocimientos sobre cáncer de mama y la práctica del autoexamen de mamas fue altamente significativa (Tau-b de Kendal=0.593 y probabilidad=0.000)
The objective of this quantitative study with a descriptive correlational design was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about breast cancer and the practice of breast self-examination. The sample was made up of 105 students of the II and IV cycle of nursing from the National University of Trujillo (UNT) who met inclusion criteria. Two questionnaires were applied virtually for each study variable to obtain data. The data were processed using SPSS version 26 and the results were presented in single and double entry tables, Kendal's Tau-b test was applied. It is concluded that the majority of nursing students (51.9%) had a medium level of knowledge of breast cancer. Breast cancer preventive practices were at a regular level in 53.8 percent. The relationship between the level of knowledge about breast cancer and the practice of breast self-examination was highly significant (Kendal's Tau-b=0.593 and probability=0.000)
