Factores de riesgo de epilepsia en niños atendidos en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo

Abstract
Objetivo: Determinar si la preeclampsia, el puntaje Apgar bajo, el bajo peso al nacer, prematuridad y antecedente familiar de epilepsia son factores de riesgo de epilepsia en niños. Material y método: Se realizó un estudio analítico, observacional, retrospectivo, tipo casos y controles, se analizaron 204 historias clínicas (102 para los casos y 102 para los controles) de paciente atendidos en el servicio de pediatría entre el periodo 2010 - 2016 en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo. Se realizó el análisis bivariado y multivariado de las variables calculando el OR e IC al 95% de confianza. Resultados: Se encontró que la preeclampsia tiene un OR de 2.58, IC (95%) [1.175 – 5.695] y p < 0.05, el Apgar bajo a los 5 minutos tiene un OR de 3.27, IC (95%) [1.081 – 9,898] y p < 0.05 y el antecedente familiar de epilepsia tiene un OR de 4.7, IC (95%) [2.045 – 10.834] y p < 0.05; por otra parte el Apgar bajo al minuto, bajo peso al nacer y la prematuridad no son estadísticamente significativos con un p >0.05 Conclusiones: La Preeclampsia, el Apgar bajo a los 5 minutos y antecedente familiar de epilepsia son factores de riesgo para epilepsia en niños.

Objective: To determine if preeclampsia, low Apgar score, low birth weight, prematurity and family history of epilepsy are risk factors for epilepsy in children. Materials and methods: An analytical, observational, retrospective, case and control type study was carried out. Were analyzed 204 clinical records (102 for cases and 102 for controls) of patients seen in the pediatric service between 2010-2016 in Hospital Belén of Trujillo. The bivariate and multivariate analysis of the variables was performed, calculating the OR and CI at 95% confidence. Results: It was found that preeclampsia has an OR of 2.58, CI (95%) [1,175 - 5,695]; p <0.05 and low Apgar score at 5 minutes has an OR of 3.27, CI (95%) [1,081 - 9,898] and p <0.05; the family history of epilepsy has an OR of 4.7, CI (95%) [2.045 – 10.834] and p <0.05; on the other hand, the low Apgar score at 1 minute, low birth weight and prematurity were not statistically significant with a p> 0.05. Conclusions: Preeclampsia, low Apgar score at 5 minutes and family history of epilepsy are risk factors for epilepsy in children.
