dc.descriptionIn the present investigation the effect of the crude extract of the fruit of Morinda citrifolia L. "noni" on the levels of malondialdehyde in the cerebral membrane of Rattus rattus var. norvegicus with induced hyperglycemia. Twenty-four male specimens, 2 to 3 months old, whose weights ranged from 200 to 250 g and were randomly distributed in 3 experimental groups; Control, problem 1 and problem 2. The control group was administered orally 2 mL of 0.9% NaCl, groups 1 and 2 were given crude extract of Morinda citrifolia L. at doses of 5 ml / kg and 10 ml / Kg respectively, for a period of 21 days; Then hyperglycemia was induced with streptozotocin (45 mg / kg ip), after 8 days, were sacrificed and extracted brain samples that were used to determine the antioxidant effect according to levels of malondialdehyde, by the colorimetric method of reactive substances To thiobarbituric acid (TBARS) at 532 nm wavelength. The results show that the extract of Morinda citrifolia L. at doses of 5ml / kg and 10ml / kg managed to significantly reduce the levels of malondialdehyde in brain membranes of Rattus rattus var. norvegicus showing a better antioxidant effect at a dose of 10 ml / kg (p≤0.05).es_ES
dc.description.abstractEn la presente investigación se determinó el efecto del extracto crudo del fruto de Morinda citrifolia L.“noni” sobre los niveles de malondialdehido en membrana cerebral de Rattus rattus var. norvegicus con hiperglicemia inducida. Se utilizaron 24 especímenes machos, de 2 a 3 meses de edad, cuyos pesos estuvieron comprendidos entre 200 a 250 g y distribuidos aleatoriamente en 3 grupos experimentales; control, problema 1 y problema 2. Al grupo control se le administró por vía oral 2 mL de NaCl 0.9%, a los grupos problema 1 y 2 se les administró extracto crudo de Morinda citrifolia L. a dosis de 5ml/kg y 10ml /kg respectivamente, por un periodo de 21 días; luego se les indujo hiperglicemia con estreptozotocina (45 mg/kg vía i.p), pasados 8 días, se procedió a sacrificarlas y extraer las muestras de cerebro que sirvieron para la determinación del efecto antioxidante según niveles de malondialdehido, mediante el método colorimétrico de sustancias reactivas al ácido tiobarbitúrico (TBARS) a 532 nm de longitud de onda. Los resultados muestran que el extracto de Morinda citrifolia L. a dosis de 5ml/kg y 10ml/kg lograron reducir significativamente los niveles de malondialdehido en membranas cerebrales de Rattus rattus var. norvegicus evidenciando mejor efecto antioxidante la dosis de 10 ml/Kg (p≤ 0.05).es_ES
