Abstract
The efficient execution of computational workflows in cloud computing environments is now a reality. The computing power of the cloud has grown exponentially, enabling a significant reduction in response times. Furthermore, the cloud is not only an Internet infrastructure, but can also be implemented as a private cloud architecture through a modern technological infrastructure, with wellequipped data centers that allow the execution of daily computational tasks, such as those involved in the academic processes of the National University of Trujillo (UNT). The objective of the study was to deeply explore the digitization of critical processes at UNT, focusing specifically on the processes of “Issuance of certificates with digital signature” and “Graduation”. These workflows were selected for their academic and administrative relevance, and for their potential to demonstrate the transformative impact of technological solutions on operational efficiency and effectiveness. The results indicate a significant reduction in the duration time of workflows following the implementation of digital solutions. In the case of “Issuance of Certificates with digital signature,” the average processing time decreased from 10.94 days to 2.206 days in the intervention group. For the workflow of the “Graduation” process, the time reduction was equally significant, going from 51.08 days to 27.98 days in the intervention group. The level of user satisfaction also showed significant improvements after the implementation of digital solutions. In the “Graduation” process, the median satisfaction increased from 2 to 4 on the Likert scale. Similarly, for the process of “Issuance of Certificates with digital signature,” the median satisfaction also increased from 2 to 4, indicating an improvement in user experience after digitization. These results allow us to reaffirm that the adoption of cloud computing guarantees the sustainability of workflows that require high computational power, such as those performed at the Technical Registry Office of the National University of Trujillo.
